Jurassic Coastin'

The Jurassic Coastin' project is a partnership between the National Trust in West Dorset, the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site Team and and Dorset AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Team.

The two main objectives of the project are:

• to promote the work of and the sites managed by the National Trust along the World Heritage Site
• to promote the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site through education & interpretation

Part-funded by the National Trust Neptune Coastline Campaign, the Trust purchased a Fiat Ducato Motorhome which was then 'wrapped' in full colour images of Trust sites along the WHS.

With this, the Jurassic Coastin'project was born! and the vehicle has been a regular site along the West Dorset Coast since June 2010. It has also been used at many shows & events where the striking images, along with the wide range of interpretive & educational resources have been enjoyed by many people. Events attended in 2010 include:

• Dorchester Show
• Melplash Show
• Eggardon Kite Festival
• Serenata Classical Music Festival
• Weymouth Carnival
• Eat Dorset Food Festival
• Bournemouth Air Festival
• Weymouth Beach Motocross
• ... and many, many more!

The vehicle carries a Fossil Dig Kit which has resin casts of real Jurassic Coast Fossils set into the base, These are covered with sand and can then be 'discovered' using paint brushes and an identification booklet - a great fun and educational item for all ages!

Also onboard is a fabulous selection of real fossil samples from along the coast that can be handled and examined. We are greatful to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site Team for these & the dig kit.
